What Do We Do When Our Prayers Have Been Answered

Introduction

Well, of course, we rejoice and then go on about our daily lives, right? Wrong! When the Lord answers our prayers, it usually means that we now have new responsibilities. For example, friends prayed for a child to love. Ater several years and the wife developing a solid career, the Lord answered their prayers. They rejoiced with great excitement and then reality set in. Her great career path would need to be determined since it required traveling a week at a time at least twice a month.

A young man of my acquaintance during his senior year in high school rather unexpected developed a great relationship with a young lady. However, he also had his prayers answered in the form of acceptance to the university for which he and his family had earnestly prayed. That answer to prayer brought with it a four-year responsibility that would greatly curtail his relationship with the young lady.

A pastor friend prayed earnestly for a change in the leadership of his church or for a change in God’s call to his current church. The Lord did not answer prayer one, but he did prayer two. Answer two called for taking on a lot more responsibility in leading the new church since it was twice the size of his previous church. It also required moving to a new region of the country some significant distance from his grown children.

Did God answer Your Prayers for the Election?

I suspect that most readers of this blog would say, yes. Well, my friends, you have been given a set of new responsibilities. You prayed, you got a yes answer, will your rise to the occasion?

What Are You New Responsibilities?

  • You must continue to pray! Pray for the safety of Trump and Vance and all his appointees. The Enemy and his minions are not about to give up.
  • Pray for Trump and his advisors in the recruiting of those who will serve in his cabinet and other strategic positions
  • Pray for Trump and team as they begin to execute the policies which he has promoted to stimy the “new way forward” advocated by the leftist leaning opposition.
  • Pray for Trump and team to remember that this nation is a nation under God according to our guiding documents and that means people are to be treated with dignity in all circumstances.
  • Pray for wisdom that will look at the long haul when making appointments of judges and justice officials.
  • Pray that Christ followers will join this administration in prayer, in public support, and in service if recruited.
  • Commit to leaving godly personal lives that honor Christ and give credible witness to the watching world.
  • Commit to engaging in carrying out the great commission—always a responsibility, but now with enhance opportunity.
  • Commit to being unashamedly a Christian first and then also an American.

Ask Yourself, Why Do So Many People Desire to Come to America?

The answer has numerous dimensions.

  • There is the promise of freedom.
  • There is the promise of a better life.
  • There is the promise of religious freedom
  • There is the promise of good health care
  • There is the promise of one’s children having a better shot at personal opportunity.

These promises have drawn millions to seek citizenship, and we have and will continue to welcome them to come through a lawful process. And then we expect them to become contributors to continue to work to keep these promises alive and well.

Conclusion

Answering the question above leads to another responsibility under this new administration. Each of us must engage in a civil life in such a manner that we contribute to the Trump Team’s political efforts to keep these promises alive and well. And that my friends is what I call being a Christian first. Out responsibility is to live out our Christian testimony in the civil setting that the Lord has given to us. And that is what I call Christian patriotism.
